Over the last few months I've had the privilege of working on this placemaking and wayfinding project at Bendigo East Pool, with funding from @cityofgreaterbendigo

Big thanks to Amy Bell and the Bendigo East swimming club for getting me involved in this project! I've thoroughly enjoyed transforming the old beige walls into a much more welcoming and clearly signed entrance to the pool and neighbouring community hall.

The last few slides show the third wall, which can be seen from inside the pool, which I collaborated on with @aliciahuddyart.

Following on from yesterday's reel (which apparently four of you saw), here's the finished piece and a few alternate colour options - which one do you prefer?

The piece was inspired by a recent episode of @howotherdadsdad where @hamishblakeshotz interviewed @barefoot_investor, and this little nugget stood out to me. Putting a spin on the saying 'those were the good old days', Scott was reflecting on being a dad and the idea that, actually, these are the good old days. Which I take to mean that sure we've got great memories from times gone by, and we've got things to look forward to in the future, but being present now and making the most of time with our kids now is super important.

Hey friends, I just wanted to share with you a lit

Hey friends, I just wanted to share with you a little personal project I've started. I'm calling it #dadvice for now, and the idea is that I'm collecting pieces of advice, nuggets of wisdom, and reflections about being a dad. Some of these come from my experience, or from people I know, others come from conversations I've listened to on podcasts like @howotherdadsdad, and I'm hoping to create a series of 12 artworks which will hopefully become physical prints and possibly one-off hand painted pieces eventually. We'll see. Maybe even a calendar for Father's Day.

I've been a dad for 14 years now, and I constantly feel like I have no idea what I'm doing! Which is partly why I've started this project. And it's where this first piece comes from - I don't think I'm the only dad out there who feels like they're just making it up as they go, just winging it, just freestyling!

Having said that, I'm also aware that many many dads have done this before, and there's lots of wisdom out there to draw on.

I'm also aware that a lot of this applies to all parents and carers, not just dads, and that raising kids takes input from lots of different people.

I'd love to know what you think of this little project idea, and if you have any great nuggets of wisdom about being a dad feel free to share them!
